Glenn-Kelly Road Bike Path, Chickamauga Battlefield, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Georgia
Length 4.5 miles Type of trail Out and back Surface asphalt Maximum grade 5% Typical grade 2% Maximum cross slope 8% Typical cross slope 5% Obstacles None The Glenn-Kelly Road Bike path is pleasant, mostly flat, sparsely-traveled paved trail through Chickamauga Battlefield. While it is a designated bike lane with a yellow line on a minor one-way park road, the speed limit is low. The trail traverses through the area of Union forces retreat toward Chattanooga during the Battle of Chickamauga. Union General Rosecrans’ location is visible on a hill to the west. While the park is a memorial to the Americans lost during the Civil War, its greatest use today is recreation, either through learning about the Civil War history, enjoying the park trails for exercise, or for solitude in observance of history and nature. There are several parking locations along the road for access. While the road is one-way north, the bike path is two-way. In some locations, the cross-slope is high because the path is on the side of the road. When traveling north, be mindful that vehicles may be coming up behind you and may turn left in front of you.
