The trail is on the edge of the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The paved “ADA” portion of the trail provides access to more remote, unpaved, rocky and steep portions of the East Anthem regional trail in the Conservation Area. The Anthem East Trail climbs almost continuously, but mostly gently from the trailhead to designated view locations. The trail provides excellent views of the Las Vegas valley to the north, including the Las Vegas Strip area, and nearby neighborhoods. The pavement ends at the highest location where the rocky dirt trail continues. Near the highest elevation the trail increases to 12% grade, in spite of what the City’s trailhead sign indicates. How to get there: In the City of Henderson, take South Eastern Avenue south and veer left onto Anthem Parkway. Turn left at Reunion Drive. Turn left into McCullough Hills Park and them turn right to go past the ball fields to the trailhead parking. Trail assessment of this and other trails in southern Nevada was funded by the Federal Highway Administration through a Recreational Trails Program grant to Get Outdoors Nevada and Trail Access Project, administered by Nevada Division of State Parks.
