The Tammany Trace is a rail trail that runs from Covington to Slidell, Louisiana. It is fully paved with minimal road crossings. Terrain is relatively flat with only a 95 ft change in elevation over 31+ mi. The trail is hike, bike & horse (rare) shared-use path and crosses several towns, rural communities and Fontainbleau State Park. Temporarily closed under I-12 during construction and detoured at H-59 for a new tunnel. New and current tunnel, at H-190, Mandeville, has the steepest grades with a concrete surface. Because of long straight sections, this trail is ideal for handcycling.
There are multiple trailheads with accessible parking, restrooms and trail entry.
